Dr Jonathan Slater is an expert Consultant Dermatologist with private dermatology clinics in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire. He previously worked at prestigious private hospitals including North Hants Hospital, East Surrey Hospital and Frimley Park NHS Trust. Currently, Dr Slater is the Clinical Lead for the Surrey Community Dermatology Service. Formerly, he held the role of Clinical Lead for reconstructive skin cancer surgery at East Surrey Hospital.
A recognised expert in Skin Cancer diagnosis and Facial Reconstructive Surgery involving skin flaps and grafts, Dr Jonathan Slater has a particular interest in Skin Cancer diagnosis. Consequently, he regularly performs skin cancer surgery to remove common skin cancers. Additionally, he has run several educational workshops on the use of Dermoscopy. Dr Slater also offers full body mole checks at mole clinics in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire. Moreover, Dr Jonathan Slater has vast experience in removing common lumps and bumps. For example, routinely performing cyst removal surgery, lipoma excision and skin tag removal in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire.
Furthermore, Dr Slater offers treatment of common skin conditions including Eczema, Acne, Rosacea, Hair disorders and other itchy skin conditions and rashes. Dr Slater’s private dermatology practice in Surrey also covers areas of aesthetic treatments including anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, skin peels and lasers.
Dr Jonathan Slater is a member of several specialist groups including The British Association of Dermatologists, The British Cosmetic Dermatology Group, The British Hair and Nail society and The British Society for Dermatological Surgery. He is also a member of the Guildford Skin Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team and is recognised by all major Insurance companies. This includes offering an Axa health mole check and Bupa mole check/Bupa mole mapping. Dr Slater’s Private Practice is based at Mount Alvernia in Guildford, The Guildford Nuffield and Worthing Laser & Skin Clinic.

Mount Alvernia Hospital has been treating patients in the Guildford area for almost 90 years. It was opened by a group of Franciscan Sisters in 1935, initially as a small nursing home with 17 beds (7 maternity and 10 medical/surgical). The name ‘Mount Alvernia ’comes from the mountain in Tuscany, Italy where St Francis spent time in prayer and contemplation. Over the years, the nuns expanded the hospital (even building their own extension) including a four-storey addition in 1978. The last baby was born in 1989; by then, the nuns had delivered over 21,000 new lives into the world! Mount Alvernia became an independent charitable company in 1999, was acquired by BMI Healthcare six years later and then, in 2021, the hospital became part of Circle Health Group (CHG).
